Because CNY is all about food...

Happy CNY everyone! In true Kuching fashion, many shops chose to take advantage of the long holiday season and only started getting back into the habit today.

My apologies to the organisers of the bloggers' meet at Oregano. I couldn't make it due to family commitments. CNY mar...

For my friends who couldn't make it back to kuching for cny, here are some home cooked delicacies to satisfy your taste buds (am I evil or what)

Kachang Ma chicken. A compulsory diet for women during confinement periods, this dish is unique to Sarawak. Rice wine and red yeast wine are a must.

Local brown rice, planted and harvested by the natives of Sarawak. Dad bought this from Tebedu.

Manok pansuh (a.k.a. bamboo chicken). Ok it wasn't cooked in bamboo, but the vital ingredient for successful manok pansuh, i.e. daun bungkang was added in abundance. We have a bungkang tree in our backyard and hence we have the advantage of plucking tender leaves for this dish. The taste starts off with a herbal, fragrance tinge, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. My favourite :)

Stir fried vegetables~sliced carrots, pumpkin, lotus root, sweet peas and shredded shitake mushrooms.

Poor Xiao Bai went for pet grooming two days back and now she looks awful. Her fur is all gone!

"sobs! I didn't want a Britney! :("

What was my uncle thinking when he asked the pet groomer to take everything off, I really do not know.

Xiao Bai during happier days:

Happy CNY folks! :D

Happy CNY~

Dear friends, bloggers and readers alike,

Sorry for the late greeting. My computer went dead last week and was only recently revived, thanks to my brother who is back on a short break.

I'd like to thank all of you who sent me those lovely sms-es. I've tried to reply all of you, but if I inadvertently left anyone out, please don't take it to heart ok? Its been a busy week (and still is actually).

Will continue blogging after the CNY breeze is over. :D Till then, enjoy your holidays folks!

Celebrating the re-birth of snail mail

At an era when emails, e-cards, e-greetings have taken over our regular communication at a fast and furious pace, I decided to revive the age old tradition of sending out snail mail greetings to my friends around the globe. These are the wonderful people whom I have known through the internet, through this blog, friends whom I have known from my school days and also people who have left a lasting impression on my life.

Back in 96-98, nothing makes my day better than receiving letters in the mailbox. Friendship blossomed as letters were exchanged throughout those years.

I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the re-birth of snail mail. Lets face it, the thrills and excitement upon discovering an envelope in your mailbox, or on your table for that matter, is something much too beautiful to miss. Have we all forgotten how it was like to receive something tangible? The personalised messages your friend wrote, in his or her own handwriting, sending his or her blessings to you. :)

Cynics would of course scoff at this idea~ after all, we can only look foward to faster and more reliable means of communication, can't we? But amidst the light speed pace, perhaps we should take a break and savour some things in life which we often take for granted.

Watch this space. :)

Profile

Right... four years exactly into working life and suddenly I found the urgent need to ramble about my not so interesting life...here goes:

I am:
Liberal and radical on paper only. This is the basic description I would give myself. I am a good listener and usually offer sensible advice. If I don't sound like myself, its must be my evil twin at work :P

I am passionate about:
Music and Arts. Can't imagine what this world would be like without these two essential elements.

When I'm not working my head off I like:
Meeting new people from all walks of life and listening to their life experiences. I take things with an open mind (albeit not completely Zen like) and always remind myself not to take anything in life for granted.
And I wish:
All my friends, my family and everybody else who will somehow cross paths with me, a fulfulling life, in terms of work and relationships. And remember, you only live once. So make the best out of it. :)
